The Center for Accounting Research (CAR) was founded in 2006. Its mission is to undertake internationally recognized cutting-edge research and doctoral education in the field of accounting, including financial accounting, sustainability reporting, management accounting and control, governance and taxation. With its research, it aims to contribute to accounting theory and practice.
It focuses on analytical accounting research, which is theory-building, but it also engages in empirical research based on theory, as well as in activities to inform standard-setting and regulation. A major focus is also doctoral education in accounting, with a view of supporting young researchers to be part of the international research community.
